200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training in Kandy, Sri Lanka
Study, Practice, Transform: A Complete Path from Student to Certified Teacher
🇱🇰 3 Weeks in the Home of the Tooth Relic — Welikande Yoga Retreat, Kandy.
YOGA ALLIANCE INTERNATIONAL CERTIFIED
Built to turn practitioners into teachers here, in mist, temple bells, and healing tradition.
Arrive curious. Leave certified — and changed.
Our 200-hour program brings the complete Yoga Alliance International curriculum to Kandy, Sri Lanka’s cultural and spiritual capital. Three weeks here means enough repetition to actually absorb a teaching sequence, enough supervised practice to find your voice in front of a room, and enough stillness — in air that’s noticeably cooler and quieter than the coast — to notice what your own practice has been missing.
Kandy has shaped Buddhist and Ayurvedic tradition for centuries, home to the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic and surrounded by tea country. Studying here means learning inside a place that’s been asking questions about the body and breath long before yoga became an export.
You’ll leave with an internationally recognized RYT 200 certification, built on real teaching practice — not just hours logged on a mat, but the muscle memory of having actually stood in front of students and led them.
Certification is RYS 200 through Yoga Alliance International, recognised worldwide — the credential most studios and Yoga Alliance–affiliated schools expect from a lead teacher.

-
Tea Country on Your Doorstep
Quiet plantation walks in the hills between sessions.
-
Small Groups, Real Feedback

A Shala in the Hills Above the City
Our Kandy home sits on a quiet hillside just outside the city center, built around an open-air practice space that looks out over forest and, on clear mornings, a distant view of the lake below. Rooms are simple and unfussy by design — the point is to spend your time on the mat and among the hills, not indoors.
Welikande sits within a 12-acre private estate in Sri Lanka’s Knuckles Mountain Range. Choose between private en-suite rooms, twin-share rooms, or a shared dormitory, each with a fan, mosquito netting, hot water, and reliable Wi-Fi for the moments you do want to check in with home. The highland climate here runs noticeably cooler than the coast, especially at night, so bring a light layer. Filtered drinking water and herbal teas are available throughout the day.
Beyond the rooms, expect a shared open-air yoga deck, garden corners for reading between sessions, and an easy walk into town for temple visits, the local market, or a stroll around Kandy Lake.
Ayurvedic-Inspired, Hill-Country Meals
Food here follows Ayurvedic principles as much as it follows what's fresh from the surrounding hills. Expect three vegetarian meals a day, built around rice and curry in the Sri Lankan style, seasonal vegetables, fresh fruit, and warming spices chosen to support digestion rather than just flavor — including plenty of the cinnamon, pepper, and cardamom the region is known for.
Meals are served communally, usually with garden or hill views, and timed around your practice — a light breakfast after morning asana, a substantial lunch, and a lighter dinner that won’t sit heavy before rest. Herbal teas, including locally grown Ceylon tea, are available throughout the day.
Please note: meals are vegetarian, not strictly vegan.

My partner and I were most fortunate and privileged to have Prashant and Estella as our yoga teachers on a yoga retreat at Welikande Estate in Sri Lanka. We really enjoyed every class they taught, they were both highly experienced and knowledgeable as well as helpful in assisting us with our practice and postures. We particularly enjoyed a yoga immersion day where we learnt yoga philosophy and how to correctly practice Asanas. I highly recommend both Prashant and Estella as Yoga teachers, their classes were an absolute highlight of our Yoga retreat and trip to Sri Lanka.Posted on Google![]()

Posted on Google![]()

I was incredibly fortunate to practice with both Prashant and Estella who were the resident yoga instructors whilst I was staying at Welikande Yoga Retreats near Kandy in Sri Lanka. Both Prashant & Estella have a nurturing, encouraging and instinctive teaching style. Their calm voices and clear direction meant you were never unsure of the journey they take you on in either the more dynamic morning practice or the restorative yin evening practice. I always felt very well looked after in each practice and this was enhanced by hands on adjustments and checking in with me when adjustments weee being offered. A true delight to be guided by them!Posted on Google![]()

I had the pleasure of joining yoga classes with Prashant & Estella for two weeks during a homestay in Vietnam, sometimes even twice a day! After just a few sessions, I noticed a big difference in my stiff knee and hip, and now I’ve actually made yoga a daily habit. They’re such a great duo with there knowledgeable and patient! A huge thanks to both of you for your guidance and inspiration✨Posted on Google![]()

They see your potential and push you to go one step further without overstepping your limits. When i was staying at Nguyen Shack in Vietnam 🇻🇳, i enjoyed 3 classes with Prashant! In the beautiful scenery of the lake and the Mountains we practiced breathwork and asanas. I was amazed that I could do wheelpose with his assistance in the first class as i had never done it before. Prashant’s teaching made me push my physical boundaries in a really safe and gentle way. I hope i get to practice with you again in the future. You are a great teacher!Posted on Google![]()
