At Ganesha Yoga Shala, we invite you to walk that ancient path — through moving meditations at sunrise, breath by the river, and stillness in the mountains. This isn’t a vacation. It’s a homecoming to yourself.
We design travelling yoga retreats that combine daily practice, cultural immersion, nourishing food, and meaningful rest — all held in India’s most sacred and scenic landscapes. No matter your background or experience with yoga, you are welcome here.

Come as you are. Leave lighter.

A Journey, Not Just a Destination

Travel through multiple locations across India, each chosen for its natural beauty and peaceful energy — so your practice unfolds against an ever-changing backdrop.

Practice at the Source

Twice-Daily practices.
Sunrise sessions beside the river, silence in the mountains and evenings where temple bells echo through the valley — practice held by the land it was born from.

Nourishment & Community

Share meals of nourishing, plant-based Indian cuisine with a small circle of like-minded travelers.
This isn't a resort with a yoga class bolted on.
It's an immersion — designed for people who want to return home not just rested, but realigned.

WHY INDIA ?

Practise at the source

Rishikesh, India — on the banks of the Ganges It isn't a backdrop for yoga. It's the source.

Where the river teaches stillness, and the mountains teach strength. Every asana, every breath practice, every philosophy you’ve studied traces back here.

  • Authenticity

Learn from teachers trained in traditional lineages, not studio franchises.

  • Landscape

Practise against the backdrop of the Ganga, India's holiest river. Immerse yourself into the Himalayan foothills, and centuries-old temple towns.

  • Culture

Visit local temples, markets, and villages with respectful, guided access.

  • Ayurveda

Optional and not-included consultations and massages rooted in 5,000 years of wellness science.

The Itinerary

Your Journey, Day by Day

Delhi → Agra → Rishikesh

Ten days, three landscapes, one unfolding practice — following the river from the plains to the Himalayan foothills.

Days 1-2

📍Delhi — Arrival & Awakening

DAY 1: Welcome to India’s vibrant capital! Check into a traditional haveli (like Jyoti Mahal), meet the group, and unwind with an afternoon grounding yoga and breathwork session. In the evening, we’ll explore Old Delhi’s famous spice markets and hidden temples — the perfect first lesson in finding calm amid chaos.

DAY 2: After an early breakfast & Hatha yoga session, we’ll travel to Agra to witness the Taj Mahal — a monument built from grief, devotion, and love strong enough to outlast time itself.

Reflective sessions here explore themes of impermanence and letting go.

Days 3-4

📍Agra — In the Shadow of Eternal Love — The Taj Mahal

DAY 3 & 4: Rise before dawn for a sunrise pranayama practice.

We’ll reach the Taj Mahal gates right at 5:30 AM to beat the crowds and to catch a breathtaking sunrise, enjoy cooler temperatures, and explore the grounds in peace.

At sunset, we’ll visit the Mehtab Bagh gardens opposite the Taj, where Shah Jahan famously planned to build a twin Black Taj Mahal.

Back at the hotel, a relaxing Yin Yoga session will be offered.

Days 5-9

📍Rishikesh — The Heart of the Practice

DAY 5: After our Ashtanga yoga practice and breakfast, we depart for Rishikesh by car.

Arriving in the holy city by afternoon, you’ll unwind with a relaxing massage, followed by a relaxing Yin yoga session and some local tea.

This is what you came for. Nestled in the Himalayan foothills on the banks of the Ganges, Rishikesh has drawn seekers for thousands of years. Here, your days unfold slowly.

DAY 6: Begin the day with an early morning traditional Ashtanga yoga session featuring a breathtaking view of the Ganga and the Himalayas, followed by breakfast.

The afternoon is yours to rest, journal, or explore the local area at your own pace — later, a breathwork session with our local teacher.

In the evening, we attend the Ganga Aarti, a ceremony of profound symbolic importance in Indian culture where we worship and give thanks to the holy river and where candles are floating on the water, and chanting rising into the hills; concluding the day with a local dinner near the ghats.

DAY 7: We start with a morning Ashtanga yoga session (by Prashant) followed by breakfast at Tattva Cafe, a place close to our heart for their warm welcome, the beautiful cafe view and their tasty food.

Next, we visit a local NGO, Karma Animal Trust, to see their impactful work, followed by a trip to the Rishikesh market for some local shopping.

In the afternoon, experience a rejuvenating sound healing session. The evening is spent immersed in a famous Kirtan festival, to understand the meaning of Bhakti Yoga.

DAY 8: A special day full of yoga practices, with ashtanga yoga class in the morning before breakfast. Followed by a special yoga workshop about philosophy before lunch.

Enjoy free time in the afternoon before attending in the evening, a special Kirtan session with Ram Ji, our dear music teacher and friend.

DAY 9: Our last full day together. We start with morning Ashtanga yoga and breakfast, then head to our cooking class with Akki, to learn healthy cooking habits and enjoy the lunch we prepare.

Later, you’ll have free time to wander, journal, or simply rest. You’re completely free to explore the town on your own.

Later before dinner, you will attend a Hatha yoga session with guided meditation at the end, to help you relax and be ready for your departure day.

Day 10

📍Departure

DAY 10: We conclude our journey with a traditional morning Ashtanga yoga session, followed by breakfast.
Then gather for our closing circle to reflect and integrate before departing — carrying Rishikesh’s stillness back into your life.
