Where Yoga Was Born

your next chapter

A traditional yoga school hosted at Welikande Yoga in Kandy, Sri Lanka, set among hills and temples where yoga has long been treated as a path of practice, knowledge, and inner growth.

Our Yoga Teacher Training Courses are built for students who want to go beneath the surface of their practice: to understand not just the how of yoga, but the why, and to develop the discipline needed to eventually pass it on.

Days unfold slowly here. Between the open-air shala and the hills that rise just beyond it, our programs give you the space to step fully away from routine and immerse yourself in study, practice, and reflection — often beginning before sunrise, with breathwork and stillness of the shala as mist still lingers over Kandy’s hills.

Whether you’;re drawn to a shorter, focused immersion or a deeper, more complete training, Ganesha Yoga Shala offers 100-hour and 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training Courses built around where you are in your journey.

100 Hours Yoga Teacher Training

Our 100-hour Yoga Teacher Training Course is a focused, immersive entry point into the deeper layers of yoga practice.

Set against the quiet hills of Kandy, it gives you the space to pause, turn inward, and build a solid foundation in asana, breathwork, and yogic philosophy — away from the pace of everyday life.

This course suits students looking to strengthen their personal practice, understand yoga’s traditional roots more deeply, or take their first step toward teaching.

Duration 10 days | Yoga Alliance International
200 Hours Yoga Teacher Training

Our 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training Course offers a more complete and comprehensive journey into the practice, philosophy, and teaching of yoga.

With more time to settle into the rhythm of the hills, students go deeper into their own practice while building the knowledge, confidence, and skill needed to guide others.

It’s a course designed not just to certify you as a teacher, but to change how you understand and relate to yoga itself.

Duration 19 days | Yoga Alliance International

Why a Yoga Alliance International Certification?

♦     Teach with credibility, anywhere:

A Yoga Alliance International certification is recognized in over 100 countries, so you can teach in studios, at retreats, or online, wherever your path takes you.

♦     A curriculum built to last:

9 comprehensive modules — asana, anatomy, philosophy, pranayama, shatkarma, mantra, and teaching methodology — taught by an experienced team who live the practice daily.

♦     Taught by practitioners, not just instructors:

Prashant grew up in Rishikesh and has practiced yoga for 10 years; Estella is RYT 800hr
certified and has practiced Ashtanga daily for 8 years under Indian teachers trained directly in
Mysore.

What Makes Our Teacher Training Special?

♦     Rooted in Tradition

We honor yoga’s traditional teachings and guide students toward the deeper principles that sit beneath the postures.

♦     Where Practice Meets Understanding

Yoga is felt through the body, but it’s understood through study. Our courses weave together hands-on practice with the philosophy behind it.

♦     A Journey Inward

Teacher training isn’t only about learning to teach — it’s time set aside for practice, meditation, and self-reflection that can shift how you see yourself.

♦     Life at the Pace of the Hills

Set among the quiet hills of Kandy, each day moves slower than usual— practice, cool mountain air, and space to simply be.

♦     A Community Without Borders

Train alongside students from across the world, forming friendships and shared experience in the hill country of Kandy.

♦     Immersed in a Living Yoga Space

Living and training within the shala itself means your days settle into a natural rhythm built
entirely around practice and learning.
